The backyard: 2 inches soil, 6 inches concrete.

At times the lengths people go to in order to save a few bucks borders on mind-numbingly foolish. The backyard to this property had initially been covered with old, ill kept concrete which the previous owner had supposedly removed. A while ago, it was discovered that the guy didn’t do the entire backyard — just the middle area. The “garden” area (as he called it) still has a “beam” of concrete roughly half a foot deep by 3 inches wide that spans all three sides of the yard…  If you’re going to remove the old concrete, why not take it all?

After quick call over to the GC (and so far 3 days of waiting for a quote) I figure I should get a response by Friday this week & schedule the work for for the weekend after next.

Update: Initial Estimate: $4,000 to remove the concrete and haul it away.

Ooo – how exciting. To think we might be able to have our backyard all landscaped and pretty in time for a house-warming BBQ! 😉
