Gas? We don't have no steenking gas.
No gas, yet.
So it’s been almost a month since closing and the place still hasn’t been hooked up to ConEds gas service. The previous owner’s plumber says everything is all set, but the architect says there’s a signoff from a inspector that has to happen before anything can proceed. Called the previous owner with all this and made sure he understood what I was saying and that the repurcussions for his inaction were very, very clear. He said he needed one more week as of tomorrow to get things set up — after that, he’s fired, his crew is fired and the money in escrow will pay for the crew I have to bring in to correct his screw up.
What… you want more?
This past weekend NY metro got hit with a cloudburst, severe rain, wind, lightning and thunder — the works.. and if my friggin basement hadn’t started trying to help out the storm drains by taking in some of the rainwater runoff, I would’ve been able to enjoy the storm from the terrace. Yeah.. so the basement retains water like a creatine junky (at least in the back corner of the house). Three+ hours of rain amounted to a puddle in my basement roughly a quarter inch deep and ~5 feet in diameter.
If I hear someone else utter “ah the joys of home ownership,” I’ll consider beating the hell out of them with my new mop and bucket to the Basement Jaxx “Oh My Gosh” video.
“Ah the joys of home ownership!â€? Heh-heh…had to do it. This, like everything else, will get sorted out in time.
