Niffer (fin)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The result of the recommendations for fixing the basement flooding problem:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vulcan Basement Waterproofing<\/strong>: Installed french drains based on the recommendation of the sales rep that came out to assess the problem. ($3,400) Later was told that French drains would not properly handle the problem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Rooter<\/strong>: After seeing that the roof and 2nd floor deck gutters were draining into a sewer grating on the side of the building, recommended what could have ended up being an $8,000 to $16,000 project. I passed on that (they also started a $49 service fee just for coming out that I was able to get out of paying &#8212; customer loyalty maybe?).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Niffer<\/strong>: Recommended purchasing a $20 gutter extender from <a title=\"Rain Guard USA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rainguardusa.com\">RainGuard USA<\/a> to re-direct the water from the roof and deck into the back yard. ($20) &#8212; ever since she installed it (before we were hit with the remnents of Ernesto) the basement has been bone dry.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, I still feel as though I was conned by the Vulcan Basement Waterproofing rep (Caplan), either that, or he had no idea what he was doing.
